Research visit to Beijing Jiaotong University

MOTRAN project member Yanming Xu visited Prof. Guoqing Cai’s research group at Beijing Jiaotong University. Prof. Cai’s group has strong expertise in unsaturated soil mechanics, hydro-mechanical coupling, constitutive modelling, and transportation geotechnics, including experimental and numerical investigations of granular materials.

During the visit, research topics related to granular materials, constitutive modelling, and geotechnical numerical methods were discussed with members of the group. The visit also included a tour of the geotechnical laboratory and its experimental facilities, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas on the connection between laboratory observations and numerical modelling. The scientific discussions and laboratory exchange opened possibilities for further collaboration between the two research groups.
